Lakewood Police say the teenage boy took his family’s car without permission Monday afternoon with three other boys, ages 14, 11, and 10. The 10-year-old was identified by police Tuesday as Dylan Wilson. He was sitting in the back seat.
Lt. Chris Lawler of Lakewood Police said the car was involved in a minor crash and, afterward, the driver sped off. The teen then reportedly lost control of the car, slammed into a pole and then a tree on Veterans Drive SW near Pine Street SW. Police said the 10-year-old died at a hospital and the others were injured. Two were taken to Mary Bridge Hospital, the other to St. Joseph’s.
Lawler says the driver has been arrested and could face vehicular homicide charges.
