The crash happened at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 10 on State Road 407, one mile west of Interstate 95 in Brevard County.

Troopers said Keith Pumphrey, 22, of Melbourne, was traveling east on S.R. 407 as Keri DeMott, 20, of Orlando, was traveling west. Pumphrey traveled into the westbound lanes and the front of his Honda Pilot struck the front of DeMott’s Honda CRV, troopers said.

Troopers traveled Wednesday to Jacksonville to arrest Pumphrey for DeMott’s death, according to FHP. He was arrested at a rehabilitation center and taken to the Brevard County Jail.
