Driving Through Flooded Water- Don’t Do It!

Many parts of the U.S., particularly here in Florida, have now entered the rainy season.

While many of us have heard the old adage of “April Showers Bring May Flowers,” not so many people have heard the adage of “Don’t drive through water if you don’t know how deep it is.”

Flash flooding, like what is being seen in the attached article can result in damage to your vehicle’s electronic components or, if the water manages to get into the air system, to the internal combustion system.

If you stall out your car, you are subject to nature’s whims and a flooded car may become a giant raft, taking you wherever Mother Nature wants you to go.

If you’re confronted with standing water on a roadway and you can avoid it, do so and try to find higher ground to let the waters recede.

If you have to drive through it, remember that with the way most roads are designed, the water will be deeper at the edges instead of the center of the road and remember to take it slow.

Lots of personal injuries result from people driving poorly in rainy or flooded conditions.  Be safe out there, but if someone isn’t being safe and hurts you or your family, talk to us at FL Legal Group
